CD & DVD Artwork Specs
In order for us to produce printed material, we have detailed below all relevant dimensions to help you in designing your artwork.
Paper inserts are produced using premium paper stock – 120gsm for 4page inserts/DVD wraps, 160gsm or 120gsm for 2page inserts, 160gsm trayliners. An approval copy of your duplicated/printed disc and paper parts will be supplied free of charge (and obligation) prior to production.
For on-disc images, please do not cut out the inner hole since our software will mask the unprintable areas automatically. Please allow 2mm from the the edges for all text. For artwork on the inserts/trayliners we will require a 2mm bleed around all edges. We would also request that text does not appear within 2mm of the inside edges. Additionally, for trayliners, it is recommended to use no more than 8point font size for the spines, due to the proximity of the perforations.
Artwork should be supplied as a hi-res JPEG, PDF, BMP, TIFF or flattened photoshop. All in-house colour printing is produced using digital colour laser print technology, which uses CMYK for colour generation. As a result exact colour matching (pantone) is not achievable and metal effects cannot be reproduced. Please note, we are PC based and therefore unable to support MAC formats.
- 4/4 - indicates printing full colour both sides
- 4/1 - indicates one side printed full colour, reverse printed in black/white
- 4/0 - indicates one side printed full colour, reverse blank

2 page insert:
We can produce your 2page insert in one of two ways: a square printed both sides (overall finished size 121mm x 121mm) or a rectangle with a fold which is blank on the reverse - looks like a conventional insert and sits more securely in the case. Overall size 242mm(w) (2 x 121mm squares) x 121mm (h) Please allow an additional 2mm for the bleed area on each edge.

4 page insert:
Printed both sides using 120gsm paper. Overall size 242mm(w) (2 x 121mm squares) x 121mm (h). Please allow 2mm for the bleed area on each edge.

Trayliner:
For a standard jewel case, printed one side (4/0), for a crystal jewel case you can opt for double sided print (4/4). Overall size 151mm (w) 118mm (h) spine element 6.5mm (w) 118mm (h). Please use an appropriate size font for the spine writing (no more than 8 point). Please also allow an additional 2mm bleed area on each edge.

DVD wraps:
Overall size 272mm(w) x 183mm(h). Please allow an additional 2mm bleed for the bleed area on each edge.
On-disc print:
We offer 3 print options for on-disc printing, depending which option you choose will determine print area available.

Black Thermal Print:
Suitable for text only printed onto shiny silver discs. Offers a cost effective permanent titling of discs.
Printable area:
Outer 112mm inner 48mm. Please do not include guides or mask any areas, our software will take care of that.

Black or Colour Inkjet Print:
A very versatile print option, utilised for reproducing photographic quality images, along with coloured text/logos. Suitable for partial coverage only (less than 50% of the disc's printable area). Discs are subsequently coated to give a professional, glossy finish which also offers enhanced durability and prevents ink smudging. Printed onto white or silver discs.
Printable area:
outer 118mm inner 21mm. Please do not include guides or mask any areas (including the centre hub), our software will take care of that.

Colour Thermal Print:
The ultimate print option for photo realistic, glossy discs. This print method offers full surface coverage giving unequalled disc print quality.
